I’ve published a 10-point Learning Material Terms of Use. Not to restrict good training, but to protect it.
High-quality, accreditation-ready learning material takes time, deep expertise, careful review, and ongoing updates. These terms exist to protect accuracy, learner safety, accreditation integrity, and the credibility of the material itself.
If you value clean audits and material you can confidently put in front of learners and auditors, the logic will be clear. Quality has a structure. Mine is transparent.
Lime Green Training: Learning material terms of use
Please note that Lime Green Training does not train, but only provides solutions to training companies. In short – we do not compete with our own clients but rather support them.
1. Protection of material integrity and intellectual property
To protect the accuracy, safety, accreditation status, and intellectual property of Lime Green learning material, almost all documents are supplied as editable MS Word files, except the Facilitator Guides and Learner Guides, which contain the majority of the intellectual property. These are supplied in PDF format. This is to prevent unauthorised modification, misuse, or redistribution.
This protection exists to prevent the following risks:
Alteration of content that results in incorrect, outdated, or unsafe training while retaining Lime Green author and subject matter expert attribution.
Plagiarism or resale of Lime Green content as original work by another party.
Unauthorised use of licensed or proprietary images without permission or attribution.
Modification of accredited material to the extent that it no longer aligns with the structure and content approved during accreditation.
Separation of manuals from required supporting documents, resulting in incomplete or misleading material.
Such actions place at risk the integrity of the manual, the credibility of authors and subject matter experts, accreditation status (for SETA-aligned material which comes pre-accredited with LPE reports), learner safety, and legal compliance including copyright.
No ownership of intellectual property transfers through purchase. Only a licence to use the material under these terms is granted.
Material is supplied on a once-off purchase to clients, who use them to train in the normal way a training business trains their clients.Â
2. Accreditation intent and compliance assurance
All learning material created by Lime Green is developed with the client’s intention to gain or maintain QCTO/SETA accreditation in mind, and is sold as compliant with the accreditation body for which it was designed.
Where material has been through accreditation with a SETA, it is sold as pre-accredited for that SETA with LPE reports. This is being phased out by the SETAs though.Â
Where material falls under QCTO processes, Lime Green typically holds documentary evidence from prior applications or approvals confirming compliance with curriculum and assessment requirements. The SETA may recognise it, but will still check matrix (forms 3 and 4 supplied as part of your purchase)
All material is guaranteed to meet the accreditation requirements of the body it was intended for when used as supplied.
3. Authoring standards and instructional quality
All learning material is authored by experienced, qualified, and accredited learning material developers. Manuals are aligned with the relevant curriculum, learning outcomes, and assessment criteria.
Material is developed with input from subject matter experts and authored by individuals who are also accredited facilitators and assessors. This ensures that facilitator guides, assessor guides, and moderator guides are practical, accurate, and fit for purpose.
Material is written for both self-learning and classroom delivery, follows correct instructional design principles, and presents concepts in a logical, accessible manner using clear language, examples, and applied context.
4. Use of visuals and learning design
Lime Green makes extensive use of images, colour, diagrams, and visual examples to support learning outcomes and improve knowledge retention.
Images are either created, licensed, purchased, or used with permission, and are properly attributed where required. Considerable effort is invested in visual learning design to ensure concepts are accurately and effectively conveyed.
Manuals are formatted to balance usability with printing efficiency. Usually a print-friendly version is added that is the same as the learner guide, but just with less images.Â
5. Subject matter expert review
Learning material is usually released with review by appropriately selected subject matter experts.
These reviewers are industry professionals with recognised expertise and experience. Their role is to validate technical accuracy, industry best practice, legislative interpretation, and safety related content.
This review process ensures training providers can rely on the material with confidence.
6. Industry positioning and product scope
Lime Green operates in a specific segment of the training industry focused on quality, accuracy, and long term credibility.
The company does not attempt to offer the widest possible range of manuals, but rather focuses on producing a smaller range of high quality material that withstands scrutiny, accreditation, and practical use.
Clients who value accuracy and instructional quality are the intended users of Lime Green material.
7. Revisions, updates, and change requests
Learning material is reviewed and updated regularly to reflect changes in legislation, standards, and best practice.
Clients who have purchased material receive updated versions when revisions are issued, without additional fees for the same product.
Clients may submit change requests for consideration. Requests are reviewed by the author and subject matter expert and incorporated where appropriate.
8. Use on eLearning and distance learning platforms is permitted
Training providers may use Lime Green learning material on their own eLearning or distance learning platforms.
Learners may download the material for use as part of normal training delivery. The material must remain unaltered and attributed to Lime Green.
9. Licence scope and organisational use
Each purchase grants a licence to one registered organisation for one instance of each manual purchased.
The purchasing organisation may reproduce the material physically or electronically solely for the purpose of training its own learners.
The material may not be resold, sublicensed, or distributed in the manner of a learning material vendor or reseller.
Where multiple legal entities exist, including multiple companies, franchises, or separate juristic persons, each entity must purchase its own licence.
If ownership of a business changes, the licence remains with the original invoiced entity and does not transfer unless agreed to in writing.
Use of the material is not permitted unless payment has been made in full, unless an alternative written agreement exists.
10. Restriction on purchase by accreditation consultants
Learning material supplied by Lime Green Training is intended solely for use by registered training providers delivering training to learners. Accreditation consultants, facilitators acting in a consultancy capacity, or third parties offering accreditation or compliance services to training providers are not permitted to purchase Lime Green Training learning material for resale, repackaging, redistribution, or use as part of a consultancy offering.
Purchase and use of the material is limited to training providers who are using the material directly for the purpose of delivering training within their own registered organisation.
