Is learning material on this website really pre-approved?

Yes, Lime Green provides SETA-aligned learning materials, including all necessary pre-approval documentation from the SETA. While QCTO does not have a formal pre-approval letter they give you, material provided by Lime Green is widely adopted by training providers. Over 100 use the QCTO first aid manuals, for instance. Consequently, auditors or verifiers from the SETA (e.g. HWSETA on behalf of QCTO) constantly see the same forms and material and approve each applicant’s accreditation application, including the material. I.e once they have seen it once, they approve for subsequent applications.

SETA DIRECT PRE-APPROVAL OF LEARNING MATERIAL

While SETA unit standards are being phased out, I still (at time of writing which is June 2025) sell SETA-aligned learning material for the programs that are still active until June 2026 (a year from the posting of this article).

For all SETA unit standard aligned manuals provided at the Lime Green online shop, they all come with:

  1. LPE (Learning Program Evaluation) reports from the SETA that look like this. This is direct pre-approval by the SETA.
  2. A letter from the developer of the material giving permission to use it. That means a letter from my office.
  3. An additional letter from the first provider that received approval when the learning material was evaluated. Lime Green does this simply because Lime Green does not train, so we use a letter from the first training provider accredited for that program, using the material we supplied to them. Example letter is attached to LPE report above.

And that is how SETA aligned learning material is sold fully accredited and pre-approved.

QCTO-PRE APPROVAL OF LEARNING MATERIAL?

QCTO does not provide formal reports for pre-approval. They request an alignment matrix and an implementation plan as part of your SDP application. They want this by way of QCTO forms 3 and 4 completed by the developer. Lime Green supplies this with the learning material. The QCTO-aligned learning material supplied by Lime Green is OHS related, and goes through HWSETA.

There are only a handful of HWSETA representatives that audit the training provider, and there are well over a hundred (at time of writing) training providers using. E.g. the three QCTO aligned first aid levels of learning material I supply.

So quite simply the pre-approval is not by way of a report from QCTO like it is from the SETA, but by way of QCTO forms 3 and 4, and by way of familiarity. In addition, all off-the-shelf, unit standard, and skills program-aligned learning material supplied by Lime Green is guaranteed for accreditation; that is, it is guaranteed to pass the accreditation process.
